Job Description

Our Nursery (Ages 2-5) in Central London, Kensington Olympia, is looking to hire a Montessori Qualified Nursery Manager on a full-time (term-time only) basis from January 2024.

Your Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Team management and leadership, including regular observations, development meetings, and reflection sessions.
  • Providing a high quality of teaching, ensuring that staff are properly deployed and offer appropriate stimulation and support to the children.
  • Actively contributing to and implementing all nursery policies and procedures.
  • Responsibility for the daily running and administration of the classroom, adhering to the Policies & Procedures, ensuring compliance with the Children Act, Health and Safety legislation, all within the requirements and guidelines laid down by the Department of Education and the National Standards.
  • Monitoring the quality of teaching, participating in staff appraisals, and identifying in-service training needs.
  • Supporting the development of the nursery, including running show-arounds, open days, marketing, staff recruitment, materials selection, and school set-up.
  • Quality assurance management of the nursery.
  • Health, safety, and safeguarding – ensuring full compliance and creating and maintaining safe environment.
  • Record-keeping, including student records, staff records, and policies.
  • Working in partnership with all parents/carers, building and maintaining relationships that encourage trust, open communication, and involvement in nursery life.
  • Adhering to and actively promoting the values of My Montessori School.
  • Liaising with the Local Authority, including attending training and development sessions where appropriate.
  • Gaining insight into the child in order to help them reach their full potential.
  • Using a variety of assessment tools on an ongoing basis to fairly evaluate and make further decisions about a child’s unfolding development.
  • Preparing a classroom and outdoor environment that meets the needs of the children in the room.
  • Being responsible for the safety of the children in your care at all times.
  • Maintaining an ongoing conversation with team members and parents regarding how to best coordinate working under all curriculum areas.
  • Communicating positively with children and families.
  • Enthusiastically supporting school policies and regulations.

You have:

  • At least 2 years of experience in a managerial position in a nursery setting
  • Montessori Teaching Qualification with an Accredited Body Level 3 and above.
  • A deep love for children.
  • Patience and enthusiasm.
  • An eagerness to learn and grow.
  • Open communication with all staff members – willing to give and receive feedback.
  • Inner motivation to do better.
  • Ambition and creativity, with great communication skills.
  • DBS and First Aid.
